April 1 kicks off National Internship Awareness Month, dedicated to advocacy and myth busting for internships. Internships provide students and job seekers on-the-job training and experiential learning opportunities to expose and enhance a person’s professional experience while strengthening skills needed for communication, teamwork, problem solving, and professionalism. Internships can give meaningful insight and exposure to what is needed when launching and developing into a new career.
No matter what type of business you own, you can provide a useful opportunity for students looking for experience while also gaining much in return. Consider offering an internship as a chance to teach, mentor, share information, and help someone be ready to start their career. Some employers also find it proves to be a cost-effective solution often leading to a permanent hire.
Share your experiences and use #InternshipAwarenessMonth to post your stories.
